OUR YOUTH OF THE YEAR FINALISTS
Elizabeth Miranda
Elizabeth Miranda, a senior at Cabrillo High School, is a dedicated student-athlete with a passion for art and a strong commitment to her future in healthcare. A standout volleyball and basketball player, she earned 1st All Team in the Moore League (2024-2025) and achieved straight A’s in her first senior semester. Inspired by her parents’ struggles with addiction and homelessness, Elizabeth aspires to become a nurse practitioner and is determined to pursue her education at UCLA. As the eldest of eight siblings, she is driven by her resilience, leadership, and the unwavering support of her family and the Club.
Dilan Perea
Dilan Perea, a senior at Poly High School, found his path and passion through the Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach. As a first-generation Mexican-American student, Dilan once struggled to see the importance of higher education, but with the support of Club mentors, he has been accepted to multiple universities and now plans to study mechanical engineering, with a long-term goal of becoming an industrial manager. In addition to his academic journey, Dilan is working toward fully establishing his car detailing business. Grateful for the guidance and encouragement he received, he credits the Club for shaping him into the person he is today.
Anjelica Ragland
Anjelica Ragland, a junior at Poly High School, has been a proud member of the Eastman Boys & Girls Club since third grade. Over the years, she has transformed from a participant into a leader, helping to create a snack pantry and revitalize the Cooking Club to support fellow teens. Passionate about mental health advocacy, she hopes to create safe spaces where youth feel heard and supported. With a love for creativity and design, Anjelica aspires to attend the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising and become an interior designer.
