Health & Wellness

Focuses on the skills needed to have a healthy life while learning financial literacy, substance abuse prevention techniques. Includes gender specific programs that ease the transition from childhood to adolescence and help young people make good decisions for themselves.



SMART Moves:

The SMART (Skills, Mastery and Resistance Training) Moves program has a proven history of success. SMART Moves is a nationally acclaimed Prevention program. Participants will be exposed to various activities designed to hone their decision-making and critical-thinking skills, as well as learn how to avoid and/or resist alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and premature sexual activity.


SMART Girls:

Ages 13-18: Female Club members need a safe setting in which they can address health and social issues unique to them and build the necessary skills to resist negative influences such as drugs, alcohol and premature sexual activity. To help girls develop and adopt a healthy attitude and lifestyle, as well as acquire and maintain a positive self-concept, sound decision-making skills and mentor relationships.


Passport to Manhood:

Ages 13-15: Passport to Manhood teaches and promotes responsibility, reinforces positive behavior and develops character in adolescent males. The passage from boyhood to manhood is challenging, requiring adolescent males to understand and manage many issues and transitions. Passport to Manhood addresses critical issues that young men face during this time, such as ethics, decision making, wellness, fatherhood, employment and careers, cooperation and conflict, diversity, relationships and self-esteem.


Brent's Club - Substance Use Prevention :

Ages 10-17: Brent’s Club was created in 2013 in partnership with the Brent Shapiro Foundation for Alcohol and Drug Awareness. Brent’s Club is a substance abuse prevention and education program offered to members which focuses on intervening early in a members’ development to strengthen protective factors against substance abuse and have been integrated into various areas which include weekly meetings, oral fluid drug testing, community service, and incentives. The ultimate goal of Brent’s Club is to support the development of healthy, productive, and substance-free youth.



Healthy Habits:

Ages 6-18: Known as the Mind component of Triple Play, the Healthy Habits program is designed to incorporate healthy living and active learning. Club youth who participate in Healthy Habits will understand the benefits of eating smart and being physically active.


Cooking Club:

The Cooking Club introduces members to healthy cooking. The chosen recipes are healthy and easy to learn, allowing members to prepare these dishes again for themselves at home.
