Safety at the Clubs

What We Do

Safety is Our Number One Priority

Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach continues to update and focus on safety procedures, policies, and trainings for our Club staff. We seek guidance from the City of Long Beach, Health & Human Services, Center for Disease Control, and Boys & Girls Clubs of America>

Policies and Procedures:

We do not tolerate inappropriate behavior of any kind from our Club members, families, or staff. From strict adherence to policies and guidelines within Club facilities and staffing structure to equipping young people with the critical thinking and social-emotional skills to make healthy, safe choices, ensuring Club members are safe is the first step to their success. We also have the following committees and tasks in place to ensure the safety of everyone at our Clubs:

  • Board Led Safety Committee
  • Criminal Background Checks of all staff and volunteers
  • Immediate Incident Reports
  • Annual Safety Assessments.

Trainings:

Our Club staff are training in safety protocols, including CPR, annually.

COVID-19 Safety:

Throughout the pandemic, Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach has put the safety of our Club families and staff first. From adhering to strict healthy protocols of temperature checks, frequent surface and hand cleaning, and social distancing. We also keep Club members in strict pods and conduct a deep cleaning using MonoFoil every month.

The City of Long Beach has designated Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach as Essential Services & Critical Infrastructure Providers.
