Leadership & Service

What We Do

Leadership & Service

Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach integrates character and leadership building components into all programs to help members develop good character.

Keystone Club:

Ages 14-18: Keystoning is the Boys & Girls Club Movement’s most dynamic teen program. It affords teens an opportunity to gain valuable leadership and service experience. They conduct activities in four areas: academic success, career exploration, community service, and teen outreach.

Torch Club:

Ages 10-13: Torch Club instills qualities of tolerance, civic responsibility, community involvement and leadership that promote an appreciation for the responsibilities of citizenship and the democratic process in adolescent members. Through service activities, Torch Club members identify Club and community needs, develop programs and activities and actively participate in their community. Above all, they give young people a chance to contribute something of value to others.

Leaders in Training:

Ages 13-18: Leaders in Training participants build leadership and work experience by providing supplemental staff support. L.I.T.’s assist Program staff, lead recreation activities and supervise youth during program hours. L.I.T.’s may earn hours in 12 different leadership categories that allow them to participate in special events and/or field trips.

Youth of the Year:

Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Youth of the Year recognition is the highest honor a Club member can achieve. The Youth of the Year program celebrates youth who have overcome enormous odds and demonstrated exceptional character and accomplishments. These deserving young people are recognized for service to their Club and community, academic performance and contributions to their family. Youth of the Year honorees are shining examples and living proof that great futures start at Boys & Girls Clubs.
